The Pioneer Industrial Railway Co. (PRY) is an 8-mile railroad operating as an interline rail carrier. Located in heart of the Peoria, IL metropolitan area, the PRY was established in April of 1998 by Peoria, IL based Pioneer Railcorp, a short line holding company. The railroad consists of trackage owned jointly by the City of Peoria, and the Village of Peoria Heights. Through its connection with the Peoria & Pekin Union Railway (PPU), PRY provides its customers with the benefit of interchange with CN, BNSF, IAIS, IMRR, NS, TPW, and UP. The PRY was the first railroad that Pioneer attempted to acquire in 1983, and had served as the inspiration for the modern day Pioneer Railcorp.
Primary PRY customers include Peoria Plastics, Inc., Carver Lumber Company, Gateway Milling Company, and O’Brien Steel Service Company among others.
