Shortlines, railways that operate in a limited geographical area, serve many of CN's customers. Some shortlines were once part of CN or another large railway's network. Their strength is in their focus on local interests and their flexibility. They form a key link in the door-to-door movement of goods. CN is committed to working with its shortline connectors, as well as other railways, to satisfy the transportation needs of our customers, many of whom are North America's largest shippers

We want to take this opportunity to thank you for attending the “Partners in Growth” Shortline Conference in Montreal on May 13th 2010, and for making the event a true success. Our goal was to meet with you, have open discussions, identify growth opportunities, and how we can work together to improve and gain market share. Your honest and constructive input was greatly appreciated.
